Popsicle connoisseurs will tell you there's no comparison between the genuine article and a cup of Kool Aid stuck in the freezer with a Popsicle stick. Here's a recipe that may prove them wrong, for a Summertime cooler that spreads a cool, fruity flavor through and through. It's icy, sweet and juicy throughout, and soft enough to eat with a spoon.
The ingredients are simple and inexpensive:
- 1 envelope of unsweetened powdered drink mix.
- 1 small package of gelatin dessert mix (make it the same as the flavor of the powdered drink, or try a contrasting flavoe. Experiment!
- 1/2-1 cup sugar, to taste
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 cups cold water
DIRECTIONS Mix the dry ingredients together and add the boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved. Add the cold water and pour in molds or cups, place in freezer until frozen. Pull out and enjoy, pressing the outside of the cool cup against your forehead for relief from the hot Summer days to come.
