Didn't you get ready for Winter?

It's never too late, but it's sure a lot colder when you don't think ahead. . .

A mild start to Winter can lull many into forgetting the important little chores your home needs to stay energy efficient.  It's never too late... any time  of Winter can make a difference.  Don't forget to:
lightbulb   Switch Off the AC Breaker- Go to your home's circuit breaker or fuse box, switch off the breaker or remove the fuse block for the air conditioner.
light bulb   Switch the Cold Air Returns- If your home has closeable upper and lower cold air returns, close the top vents and open the bottom ones for most efficient airflow.  If you have no dampers or they aren't functioning, a magnetic damper can be used to cover the metal grate.  Purchase them at the Air Comfort Systems Parts Department.
light bulb   Put on the AC Cover- A cover for your central air conditioner's outdoor unit will keep out animals, and prevent the buildup of debris and ice.
light bulb   Clean Your Furnace Filters- If you have an electronic air cleaner or electrostatic filter, clean it thoroughly every 30 days, as per the manufacturer's directions. If you use disposable filters, stock up...disposables need changing at least once a month.
light bulb   Check the Humidifier Pad- Replace the evaporator pad on a home humidifier, so water can flow through freely. If there's still no flow, check the orifice and the in-line screen.
light bulb   Arrange your Energy Maintenance Visit- Midwinter usually means a service slowdown.  This makes it an excellent time for a carbon monoxide test, plus a thorough inspection, lubrication and adjustment of your furnace.

Now is a great time to arrange a  Maintenance Visit, or to have any of the services above performed for you.  Call Air Comfort Systems now at  (414) 778-5680 and set up a convenient time. Appointment times are also available on Saturdays (at no additional charge)! Or e-mail us, and we'll call you!
